Dick was born in Milwaukee, WI on April 30, 1926 to Paul and Gertrude (Bielefeld) Greulich. He was the younger of their two sons. Dick served in the United States Navy from May 8, 1944 until February 8, 1946. On November 24, 1951, he married Shirley Ann Knapp. The couple was blessed with two sons. Dick and Shirley spent most of their 59 years of married life in Des Moines, IA, where they were active members of St. Anthony’s Parish. Dick’s hard work, culinary skill, and artistic abilities, afforded him a successful career as Head Chef in such notable establishments as Pheasant Run, in St. Charles, IL, and later the Wakonda Club, in Des Moines, IA. And of course, he will always be remembered for the joy he shared with so many, in a special red suit, at Christmas time. Dick was a devoted friend and family man. He will be sorely missed.
Richard is survived by his two sons, David (Cindy) and Bob (Kathy), granddaughters, Megan and Stephanie (Eric), grandson, Chris, great granddaughter, Mackenzie and his little furry companion Suzette. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother James, and his beloved wife Shirley.
