Ruth Pickering, formerly of Chicago, Illinois, and a cherished resident of Elgin for many years, passed away peacefully on June 8, 2025. She was a beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, and great-grandmother, known for her unwavering kindness, strength, and dedication to her family.
Ruth was married to her devoted husband, the late George Pickering, with whom she shared many joyful years. Together, they built a loving home that was the heart of their family.
She is survived by her children, Misty Pickering-Eliopoulos and her son George Eliopoulos, and Leonard Pickering and his children Jessica Lynn, Jacob and Misty. Ruth also leaves behind John and his wife Reina, as well as grandchildren Michael (Mary), Stephen (Morgan), and Ian. Her great-grandchildren, Ezekial, Natayli, Landon, Finnegan, Kaiden, Austin, and Jameson, were a constant source of joy and pride in her life.
Ruth’s life was marked by her compassion and generosity, touching the lives of many beyond her immediate family. She was known for her warm spirit, her love of family gatherings, and her ability to make everyone feel welcomed and cared for. Ruth’s legacy is one of love, resilience, and the deep connections she nurtured throughout her life.
The family would also like to thank Joanne Elseth for the great care that she bestowed upon their mother.
She will be deeply missed by all who knew her but fondly remembered for the enduring impact she made on her family and community.
A visitation will be held on June 18th, 2025 (Wednesday) at 1:00-2:00 PM, with a service at 1:30 PM, with the burial to follow promptly after.
