Sonia Ratliff, nee Hernandez, passed away on October 6, 2026, at the age of 47. Beloved Wife of the late John. Dearest Daughter of Gene and Margie Hernandez. Cherished Granddaughter of Aurora and the late Juan Hernandez and the late Carmelo and the late Asuncion Mendez. Loving Sister of Dan Hernandez. Fond Niece of Carmelo (Elena) Hernandez, Carmen Elsie (Lino) Hernandez, and Pablo (Isa) Mendez, and the late Manuel (the late Carmen) Mendez, Minerva (Manuel) Mendez, Carmelo (Idez) Mendez, and Olga (Arthur) Cullen. Loving Daughter-in-Law of Frank and Krysta Ratliff, and Sister-in-Law of Tim (Molly) Ratliff. Loving Goddaughter of John and Mary Lou Cueller. Cousin of many.
Sonia will be remembered for her love of travelling. Her favorite trip was studying abroad in Spain, and she loved taking camping trips with her husband John. She loved all animals, but especially her pet dog Gypsy Rose and pet cats Ophelia and Easter. She had an amazing sense of humor, was very loving, and lived her life free of cares.
A Visitation for Sonia will take place Monday, October 19, 2026, from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Chapel Hill Gardens West Funeral Home, 17W201 Roosevelt Rd. Oakbrook Terrace, IL 60181, with a Prayer Service at 6:00 PM.
