He has one loving sister and brother in law, Susan and Dieter Fleischhauer.
He fondly remembered the many places they lived during his childhood while his father was a pilot in the U.S. Air Force, most notably France.
He attended college at UIC and spent many hours weight training with the ‘greats’ including his devoted lifelong friend, the J Man (Jimmy Altman). After college he completed basic training and was in the reserves for the U.S. Army.
He then spent decades working for the U.S. Department of Labor while living in Orland Park with his then wife, Gloria Pearce, and their daughter Brittany (husband Rob Flannery), who he “loved to the max.” He loved labrador retrievers, good food, a good laugh and good music. He was often playing guitar and singing along with his vinyl collection. He had a large personality, great sense of humor and contagious laugh. Even in the depths of Alzheimer’s disease he was able to get people laughing and lit up at the sight of his three grandchildren (Lucas, Faye and Brooke).
He will be laid to rest next to his parents at Chapel Hill Gardens West in Oak Brook, IL. Date forthcoming.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Alzheimer’s research.
