Viola was born in Chicago to the late William and Ruth McDowell, and would spend much of her life there.
She was dedicated to her family, and cherished spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Few things brought her more joy than seeing them happy. She was also a talented crafter- she enjoyed sewing and crocheting; she often made things for her family like blankets and dolls.
She is survived by her daughters, Victoria (Jose) Martinez and Sherry (Jeff) Duvall, and her stepdaughters Florence (Ron) Pennycuff and Gladys Gordon. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Al, Jenny, Michelle, Stephanie, Sandra, Miguel, Nicole, Nalisa, Vanessa, Brandon, and Kymberlee, and many great and great-great grandchildren.
Friends and family will gather for a visitation for Viola that will be held on Friday, August 11th, 2023 from 10:00 A.M. - 1:30 P.M. at Chapel Hill Gardens West Funeral Home, 17 W 201 Roosevelt Road, Oakbrook Terrace, Illlinois 60181, with Entombment to follow at Chapel Hill Gardens West Mausoleum.
