Wally grew up in Hinsdale, IL. After graduating from Hinsdale Central in 1960 he went on to earn a BA and MBA, both at his beloved University of Michigan. While at UofM, Wally met Judy and began their wonderful 58-year journey together.
Wally was a commercial mortgage banker by trade, owning and operating his business in Birmingham, MI, where he and Judy raised their 3 loving children: Karen, Greg, and Brian.
Wally cherished quality time with the family, particularly when hosting at their house on Walloon Lake in Petoskey. He also had a passion for photography, home renovations the old-fashioned way (with his 2 hands), travel throughout the world, a beer or two while grilling dinner (or any occasion for that matter) and all things UofM football. As a 60+ year season ticket holder, Wally and Judy were a fixture on the tailgate scene outside of the ‘big house’.
Wally is survived by Judy, Karen (son-in-law Mike), Greg (daughter-in-law Lori), Brian (daughter-in-law Elizabeth), as well as 10 grandchildren: Ben, Matt, Will, Jack, Grace, Isabelle, Chloe, Jack II, Kate, and Luke.
A private ceremony and graveside service will be held at Chapel Hill Gardens West Funeral Home and Cemetery in Oakbrook Terrace, Illinois. The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to the many friends, extended family, and caregivers who have supported Wally throughout his journey.
