Wayne Robert Kossow

Wayne was born on August 5, 1952, in Chicago and passed away peacefully on July 6, 2025 at the age of 72. Leaving behind his loving wife Sherry (nee Hilliard) Kossow; children Daniel R. (Tess) Kossow and Jennifer L. (Mark) Rafacz; his grandchildren, Ari Rafacz, Presten Rafacz, and Ferris Kossow; his sister Donna Houli; nieces Christa Augustyn, Stefanie Houlis; great-nephews, Alexander and Michael Augustyn.

Wayne enjoyed life’s simple pleasures—he found joy in cooking and baking for those he loved, always eager to share a homemade treat or a hearty meal. A true handyman, Wayne could fix just about anything, and he took pride in his ability to help others with his skills.

He dedicated 51 years of hard work and friendly service at Jewel grocery store, where he formed lasting relationships with coworkers and customers alike. Outside of work, Wayne was a devoted fan of country music and oldies, and he had a lifelong love and appreciation for vintage cars. He cheered faithfully for Chicago sports teams and loved riding his bike. Above all, Wayne cherished time with his family. Whether gathering for special occasions or enjoying quiet moments together, his love for those closest to him was evident in everything he did.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, Robert R. and Lorraine A. (nee Ohling) Kossow. Wayne's warmth, humor, and steady presence will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

A visitation for Wayne will be held Friday, July 11, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Chapel Hill Gardens West Funeral Home, 17w201 Roosevelt Road, Oakbrook Terrace, IL 60181, followed by a chapel service at 12:00 PM.
