William “Bill” Lippmann, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on June 4, 2026, at the age of 90. Born on April 5, 1936, he was the beloved son of Lauretta (Doherty) and Leroy Lippmann.
Bill is survived by his cherished wife, Lydia, who was his steadfast companion through so many seasons of life. Bill and Lydia were married for 70 years, a remarkable testament to their enduring love and partnership. Together they built a home filled with warmth, laughter, and strong family ties. He was the proud father of three sons: Trace Lippmann, Scott Lippmann, and Gordon Lippmann.
A United States Marine Corps veteran, Bill carried the values of service, discipline, and loyalty with him throughout his life. His trailblazing character, strength, stubbornness and desire to provide a better life for his family set forth his determination to excel at everything he did.
A hardworking and determined man, Bill owned and operated Lippmann and Son's Excavating, where he built a reputation for reliability, skill, and integrity. Later in life, he became a master woodworker, creating pieces that were not only beautifully crafted but filled with care and character. Whether moving earth or shaping wood, his workmanship reflected his meticulous nature and pride in a job well done.
Bill was also an adventurous soul who loved the outdoors and the freedom of the open road and water. He traveled, spent time boating, explored new places, and embraced life with a spontaneous spirit. His love of adventure led to outings and experiences that his family will cherish for generations.
He was blessed with a large and loving family across multiple generations: 6 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Though he could be a little stubborn at times, that same determination fueled his many talents and his unwavering commitment to those he loved.
May William “Bill” Lippmann rest in peace, and may his family find comfort in the many memories they shared and the enduring legacy of his love and service.
Bill’s Celebration of Life will be held at VFW Post 4308, 130 Grand Ave, Lake Villa, IL 60046, on Thursday, June 11, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
