Beverly Jean Huggins

November 12, 1946 – August 1, 2026

Beverly Jean Huggins (née Ross), beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully at her home in Bass Lake with her devoted and serving husband, Charles Willard Huggins, near her.

Born on November 12, 1946, in Bakersfield, California, Beverly was the daughter of Muriel (Ernst) Ross and Rueben Ernest Ross. She was raised in Fresno alongside her three sisters. She is survived by her sisters, Patricia Zobel and Kelly Krikorian. She was preceded in death by her beloved sister, Nikki “Bene” Williamson.

Beverly had a lifelong love of learning and creativity. She attended classes at both Fresno City College and Monterey Peninsula College from where she earned an AA in Art. Beverly was always eager to develop new skills and explore her artistic talents. One of her proudest accomplishments was designing the plans for the beautiful Bass Lake home where she and her husband created countless cherished memories with family and friends.

Beverly met the love of her life, Charles Willard Huggins, at Millerton Lake in August 1965. Their love story spanned more than 60 wonderful years of marriage, marked by unwavering devotion, laughter, adventure, and faith. Together they raised three daughters: Hayley Michelle Huggins Friedman (Kevin Eugene Friedman), Kimberley Dee Huggins Donlon (Peter Justin Donlon), and Heather Mary Huggins Martin (James Michael Martin). After six months of marriage, Beverly and Charles also got the privilege of helping raise Beverly’s younger sister, Kelly Ross Krikorian (Cary “Brett” Krikorian), whom they loved as their own.

Nothing brought Beverly greater joy than her family. She was the proud grandmother of nine grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren, each of whom held a special place in her heart. She loved fiercely and found her greatest happiness whenever her family gathered.

A gifted artist, Beverly expressed her creativity through painting, pottery, and countless unique artistic projects. Her art graces the homes of her children and grandchildren, serving as treasured reminders of her talent and the love she poured into every piece. Her pottery ranged from elegant to delightfully whimsical, reflecting both her creativity and wonderful sense of humor.

Beverly’s faith in Jesus Christ was the foundation of her life. She faithfully led Bible studies, shared the Good News through Evangelism Explosion and served as a leader of the Christian Women’s Club in Fresno and Monterey. Her love for the Lord was evident in the way she welcomed others, offered encouragement, and lived with bold truth, compassion for souls and grace.

Her home was a place of warmth and hospitality. There was always room at Beverly’s table for family, friends, neighbors, and even strangers who simply needed a place to belong. Holidays were filled with laughter, delicious meals, and open arms. At Bass Lake, visitors knew they could count on spirited games around the table, heartfelt conversations, and memories that would last a lifetime.

Beverly and Charles shared a love of travel and enjoyed many adventures together over the years. Their marriage was a beautiful example of enduring love, remaining deeply devoted to one another, serving each other until her final breath.

In her later years, Beverly courageously faced the challenges of COPD and congestive heart failure with quiet strength and faith.

Though her family grieves her absence, they rejoice in the assurance of God’s promise. Beverly loved Jesus with all her heart, and they are comforted in knowing she is now in the presence of her Savior, reunited with loved ones who have gone before her, and experiencing the fullness of eternal joy in heaven.

Beverly will be remembered for her steadfast faith, passion for truth, generous heart, creative spirit, warm hospitality, and unconditional love for her family. Her legacy lives on in the lives she touched, the home she built, the art she created, and the faith she faithfully shared.

She will be deeply missed and forever loved and waits for your reunion in heaven.
