

Cleon Jones of Oakhurst, California passed away on Tuesday, August 5, 2025 at the age of 91. Cleon was born in Egypt, Arkansas on November 28, 1933. He grew up in Tulare County, California, graduating from Dinuba High School in 1952. Cleon was a resident of Oakhurst for 63 years. Working as a farm laborer during boyhood and into high school, he eventually became an apprentice printer. Cleon worked at the Dinuba Sentinel, then later moved to a printing company in Clovis. He eventually became the co-publisher of The Sierra Star Newspaper from 1957 to 1977, while also running a commercial printing business, Ponderosa Printing of Oakhurst, until 2020. Mr. Jones, widower, to Katherine Jones, his wife of 66 years, was also preceded in death by her first-born son, Wesley Jones. He is survived by sons Michael Jones of
Alberta, Canada, Brian Jones of Oakhurst and daughters Elizabeth Jones and Suzanne Fetty of Oakhurst. Cleon is also survived by grandchildren, Katie Thompson, Christopher Fetty, Craig Fetty, Jessica Dye, Daniel Dye, Brittany Dye, Wesley Jones, and Hannah Jones, as well as thirteen great-grand-children.
Graveside services will be held at 9:00 a.m. on August 22, 2025 at Oakhill Cemetery
