Michael Will Airey

JR was born on September 9th, 1977, to Mike and Cheryl Airey in Fresno, California. He grew up in Coarsegold where he attended Coarsegold Elementary School and graduated from Yosemite High School.

After graduation he worked for his father’s construction company, Airey Construction, to learn the trade and later started his own construction company, Mike Airey Custom Homes. He built several houses and did several remodels throughout the mountain area. Later, when the construction business was slow, he transitioned his business to Solar Install and was very successful.

In 2001 JR’s daughter Alyssa was born and in 2003 his son Drake was born. Anyone who knew JR knew how much he loved his children and everything he worked for was for them. He was the very best Dad.

It was impossible to catch him sitting at home. JR was constantly going, whether he was working on his business, working on his property, or enjoying the outdoors with his family and friends. In the summertime you could find him camping, at a music festival, or on some lake with his jet skis and the minute snow started to fall he was on the slopes somewhere in the US.

He was a great son, brother, father, nephew, cousin, and friend. He will be missed more than words can say.

JR is survived by his parents, Mike and Cheryl Airey, his sister Brooke Airey-Jones, his children Alyssa Airey and Drake Airey, his girlfriend Mary Brooks, as well as his aunts, Chris (Bob) Moock, Sue (Rick) Childers, Evie (Richard) Clews, Betty Groothouse and cousins Jody (JD) Burnett, Jamie Winters, Tina Grizz, Donell (Wayne) Lebow, Samantha Grizz, Jon Shin, Matt (Kim) Shin, Jerry (Deneen) Groothouse, Ken (Tamera) Groothouse and Mark (Michelle) Groothouse.

Services will be held at the Yosemite Lakes Park Church on December 16th at 11am.
