Nancy Hays

Nancy Stophlet Hays passed away October 30, 2026. Born Nancy R. Stophlet in Dayton, Ohio, May 2, 1939, she attended high school in Aurora, Colorado, then Bay State College and Boston University, followed by employment in the television and advertising businesses. In the later 70’s she owned an executive recruitment service in San Francisco. Married John W. Hays in 1981, she and John later settled down and retired in the town of Oakhurst in 1992 to build and operate a furniture store, the Ol’ Proprietor. Nancy truly enjoyed extensive traveling, golf was a game she genuinely loved and regularly played at River Creek Golf Course and served as Women’s Club Captain. As aging eroded her golfing skills, she shifted her focus and enthusiasm to duplicate bridge and played with groups at least twice a week. Nancy was a creative enthusiastic gardener and home keeper. Nancy is preceded in death by her husband John W. Hays. She is survived by her Son Douglas W. Hays, Daughter in Law Dana Hays, Grandchildren William W. Hays, Kelly S. Hays, Sister Shirley Bradicich.
