On July 8, 2026, we lost a beloved husband, dad, papa, brother, and friend. Richard (Dick) Dale Iverson was born on May 16, 1942, in Atascadero, California, to Max and Helen Iverson. He had just celebrated his 84th birthday surrounded by his family and many dear friends. In March 2026, Richard was diagnosed with cancer, which he faced with strength and courage.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, and his sister. He is lovingly survived by his wife of 54 years, Kim Iverson; his daughters, Doreen Iverson (Steve), Shelly McCormick (John), Alicia LeValley (Rod), and Tina Mitchell; his sons, Rod Stansberry (Stacey) and Robbie Hanaan (Alyssa); his sister, Kay Hinson (Monty); and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren who brought him endless joy.
Richard proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War and was awarded the Purple Heart for his bravery and sacrifice.
Those who knew Richard will never forget his love for life, his unwavering devotion to his family, and his generous spirit. He had a giving heart and was always willing to lend a helping hand or share whatever he had with others.
From 2003 to 2019, Richard and Kim proudly owned Sun Mountain Gun Club, where they built lasting friendships within the shooting community. Richard retired in 2020 and embraced the simple pleasures he loved most. Whether he was tending his garden with his remarkable green thumb, fishing, shooting sporting clays, boating, camping, or spending time on California’s beautiful Central Coast, he found happiness in the outdoors and in the company of those he loved. Earlier in life, Richard also enjoyed racing sprint cars during the 1960s, a passion that reflected his adventurous spirit.
Richard leaves behind a legacy of kindness, hard work, laughter, and unconditional love. He will be deeply missed by his family, his many friends, and all whose lives were made better by knowing him.
