He lived his early life in Torrance and attended Narbonne High School. In his youth he excelled in athletics, he was a player for both the football and baseball teams. For years he held the school’s football longest throw record. He also broke several baseball records in high school including the most consecutive strike outs in multiple games; and he held the school record for the most no-hitter games in high school. Ron was ambidextrous and could play with either hand. After high school, Ron played for the LA Dodgers Triple A Team until he had a career ending injury, tearing his rotator cuff.
Ron joined the United States Marines and served in the reserves for seven years. The Marines were a good fit for Ron. He was a man of integrity, promptness, and honesty. He went on to have a 50 year career as a truck driver.
Ron met Sharon at the American Legion in Redondo Beach, where Sharon worked as a volunteer for Friday “fish night” and where Ron liked to play pool and poker. They built a friendship over two years before they started dating. Together they lived in the Torrance, south bay area until they moved to Oakhurst in 2016. They were together for 43 years until his death.
Ron was an avid fisherman his whole life and enjoyed fishing both day and night. Once retired he bought a fishing boat and loved being out on Bass Lake every possible day. He told his family he wanted to have a fishing pole in his hand when he died. Ron went all in with all he did in his life. He did nothing half way. He was a devoted husband and father to his sons, and had a deep belief in God, having been raised in the church as a boy.
Ron is preceded in death by his parents, Wallace Edward Lingren and Margaret Smith Lingren, and his son, Drew Lingren.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon, his sister, Sharon Lion, his son, Ronald Lee Lingren Jr., his son Jason Lingren and wife Lizette, and three grandsons Jacob Lingren, Joseph Garcia, and Jason (Jay Jay) Lingren. Ron was loved by many and will be greatly missed.
