Rosario grew up on a sugar cane plantation in the province of Negros Occidental. After WWII, she met the love of her life and married Gilbert Baker. Gilbert took “Nena” on many trips, living in Guatemala, Canada and Ethiopia. Also, in the United States, she lived in New York, Indiana and eventually settled in California, and, for the past 52 years, locally in Coarsegold.
While her husband traveled on many extended business trips, Nena raised their 3 boys. Larry, the oldest; Greg, the middle child; and Ronnie, the youngest. As a homemaker, Nena was the President of the local PTA and participated in many local charity fundraisers. Nena was an avid golfer, who had one of the most “natural” swings, and won many local events. She also loved playing mahjong with her friends.
Nena is survived by Gregory Baker and his wife, Diane; daughter-in-law, Carla Baker; granddaughters, Bailey Baker and Brooklyn Wendorff; daughter-in-law, Maria Baker; grandson Dominic Del Rose; and brother, Jessie Basa and his wife, Eva.
On the 17th of September 2023, Nena joined her husband, her 2 sons and the rest of her heavenly family. There will be a graveside service at Oakhill Cemetery in Oakhurst, CA, on October 21, 2023, at 10:00 AM.
Mom will be missed.
