William “Bill” DeHart, 86, answered his last alarm in Boise, Idaho September 4th, 2018 after a lengthy illness. The first of three sons, Bill was born to William and Nina DeHart in Hollister, CA, where he attended San Benito High School becoming President of his Junior Class and Captain of the Football Team. After high school, Bill joined the US Navy, proudly serving in the Korean War, delivering Marines to the beaches and taking the wounded back to his ship. After the war, Bill continued serving the public as an EMT and as an esteemed member of the Fresno Fire Department, retiring after 20 years of service.
When Bill returned from the war, he married Marie Luanne Cook, raising three boys while working three jobs at any one time. After retirement, Bill and Marie realized their dream of living in the mountains, moving to Oakhurst, California where they entertained their large family through the years.
Bill was pre-deceased by his wife, Marie, and his youngest son, Aaron Robert DeHart. He is survived by two sons, Howard W. DeHart (wife, Cris), and William DeHart (wife: Tiffany), and two brothers, Gerald DeHart (wife: Joanne) and Roger DeHart, as well as many grandchildren and great-children.
Arrangements are being handled by Palm Memorial Sierra Chapel in Oakhurst, California. A Graveside Service is scheduled for 2pm Friday, September 14, 2018 at the Oakhill Cemetery, also in Oakhurst, California.
For Skip -
Now you're reunited with those you loved and lost, we're glad that you have found the peace that came once you had crossed.
Someday we will join you all, rejoicing in the light - catching up with each other over a glass of red or white....
Cris
