

Elaine Murphy passed away unexpectedly but peacefully.
Elaine was born on July 10th, 1960 in Oakland, California. Her early education was obtained from the Oakland Public School District.
Elaine was a matriarch in her family and community. She worked with the Oakland Parks and Recreation for many years. She took pride in the community park, next door to her house. She maintained the free books for youth in her park also. Elaine was also known as the “Candy Lady”, whose candy store in her home brought joy wherever she lived. She welcomed family and friends with love and care, hosting dinners and picnics that brought happiness everywhere. With raffles, laughter, and plenty of food to share, no one ever left empty-handed from there. Elaine made people feel loved. She even made Christmas come true for many kids that would have otherwise went without a Christmas. Elaine left an everlasting impact on everyone. Most of all, she was a Devoted wife, Amazing sister and Loving auntie.
Elaine is preceded in death by her parents, O.C Moses and Velma Moses; sisters, Joyce Rhodes and Brenda Rhodes; brothers, Jimmy Moses, Larry Moses, Bennie Moses, Troy Lee Moses and Marvin Ray Moses.
Elaine leaves a void in the hearts of her sisters: Mary Moses, Beverly Moses, Linda Moses and Linnie Moses; step son Atiba Murphy, his wife Ena and their two children, and a host of nieces nephews cousins and friends.

Public viewing will be held on Monday, June 22, 2026 from 12:00 noon to 4:00 pm.
Funeral Services for Elaine will be held on Tuesday, June 23, 2026 at 11:00 am at C. P. Bannon Mortuary, 6800 International Blvd, Oakland, CA 94621
Burial will be held at San Joaquín Valley National Cemetery, 32053 McCabe Rd, Santa Nella, CA 95322, on June 24, 2026, at 11:30 am.
