Joanna Verne West

Joanna V. West was a devoted child of God, a faithful Baptist Christian, and a woman whose Life was rooted in faith, and service to others. While she achieved many accomplishments throughout her life, her greatest and most cherished role was being a mother. She was a highly devoted, deeply involved, and loving mother who placed her children and family at the center of her world. Her guidance, sacrifices, and unconditional love shaped generations and remain one of her greatest legacies.

Joanna was a woman of unwavering faith who believed in helping others, especially children. She was known for her selflessness, kindness, and willingness to support anyone in need. She was a trusted confidante and compassionate listener, always ready to offer wisdom, encouragement, and a caring heart to those who sought her counsel. To many, she was a true waymaker--opening doors, creating opportunities, and uplifting others through both her words and actions.

Throughout her life, Joanna accomplished much. Her professional journey included service with the United States Postal Service, earning her cosmetology license, working with the Oakland Police Department, and ultimately fulfilling her entrepreneurial dream of owning and operating a prominent childcare business for more than 25 years. Through her childcare center, she touched the lives of countless children and families, providing care, guidance, and love that extended far beyond the classroom.

Joanna's life was defined by faith, strength, generosity, and an unwavering commitment to her family and community. She leaves behind a legacy of compassion, resilience, and service that will continue to inspire all who knew her.

She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and the many lives she touched. Though her earthly journey has ended, her love, wisdom, and spirit will live on in the hearts of those she leaves behind
