Jurdine Pittman Thomas was born in Pine Bluff, Arkansas to Benjamin and Pinkie Pittman on January 11, 1931. Two children were born to this union. Jurdine and William Houston Pittman (brother preceded her in death) were raised on their grandfather's farm in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. In 1937, Jurdine's mother Pinkie, later met and married Earnest Mays (stepfather). No children were born to this union.
Jurdine Pittman Thomas married Johnnie C. Thomas in 1958, and they were happily married for 42 years, together raising five wonderful children. She was a devoted mother, loving wife, and cherished grandmother to seven grandchildren. Jurdine had a zest for life. She loved to travel, was a tireless advocate for education, delighted in mastering the local newspaper crossword puzzles, and had a legendary passion for gardening.
Though we deeply mourn her loss, we take comfort knowing she is now with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Her warmth, wisdom and legacy of love will continue to inspire all who knew her until we meet again.
