Growing up in the Jim Crow south in the 50s', wasn't easy for young black men. He had his share of laboring in the fields so as a teenager, he migrated to New Orleans, LA, following in the footsteps of his older sister, Iola and brothers David, Jr. and Dewitt.
After arriving in New Orleans, he worked at high end restaurants, from being a porter to being a cook. He loved to cook and he could make a mean ole smothered gar fish with rice.
He is survived by 6 childrens, 2 sisters, several nieces and nephews, a special friend, Ray and his loving spouse, Yolanda Hayles, whom took care of him to the end.
