

Al was born in Greenwood, Mississippi, on December 25, 1934. He graduated from Greenwood High School and received a Bachelor of Science in Physics from Millsaps College in Jackson, Mississippi. He worked as a research physicist for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in Vicksburg, Mississippi.
Al married Charlotte “Char” Becker on October 4, 1958, and they lived in Jackson, Mississippi, until retiring to The Villages, Florida, in 2007.
He was a member of Friends of Handicapped Readers for the visually impaired and had a passion for photography, desktop publishing, church choir, and travel.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Charlotte Williamson; his sons, Thomas (Lynn) Williamson and Michael (Glo) Williamson; his foster daughter, Cynthia Tyson; his daughter-in-law, Tammera Williamson; his brother, Frank Williamson; his grandchildren, Holley, Adam, Andrew, Seth, and Ethan; and his great-grandchildren, Alder, Jasper, and Jamie.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert Nicholson Williamson, Sr. and Edith Williamson, and his son, Jeffrey Williamson.
A Celebration of Life Ceremony will be held at 11:00 a.m. on May 16, 2026, at New Covenant United Methodist Church in The Villages, Florida.
