Anne Bradbury Morgan passed away on June 20, 2026, in Ocala, Florida, after a brief illness. Anne was born Anne Wells Bradbury in 1934 in Richmond, Virginia, to Marjorie and Charles Bradbury. Growing up, her family and friends called her Nancy, and she spent her early years in Bolivia, where her father worked as a mining engineer managing a tin mine, and then later moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico; Mexico City, Mexico; and then St. Petersburg, Florida, where she graduated from St. Petersburg Senior High School in 1952. Anne was devoted to her parents, as well as her brother and two sisters, William, Emily, and Marjorie Bradbury, all of whom watched over their Nancy. Anne attended the College of Wooster in Wooster, Ohio, which she enjoyed very much, but had to return home to St. Petersburg because of lack of money. Her sister Emily encouraged Anne to return to college and provided funds for Anne to attend Florida State University, from which she graduated in 1957 with a double major in Spanish and French.
At Florida State, she worked part-time for Dr. W. Hugh Stickler, and there met her future husband Tom Morgan, who was Dr. Stickler’s research assistant. The two began dating after Tom had graduated from Florida State and moved to Ocala. Upon graduation, Anne had been offered a job with the National Security Agency in Washington, DC, but luckily for Tom and her future children, declined that job offer to build her life with Tom in Ocala.
Anne worked for many years in Ocala at the State of Florida Department of Children and Families, where she was involved in supervising foster care and interstate child-support enforcement. She raised her three sons and one daughter, working very hard at her job and for her family, and was the best mom to her kids. She loved camping, boating, fishing, and exploring Florida with Tom and her children. She remained the solid and unwavering foundation of the family right up until her passing, always finding the positive in people, and always looking on the bright side. She had a quiet but wry sense of humor, she loved adventure and the outdoors, and she was the kindest and most gentle soul to her children. She is preceded in death by her husband Thomas N. Morgan III, and survived by her children, Tom Morgan (Jill); Bill Morgan (Judy); Charlie Morgan (Lynn); and Ellen Wheat (Darrell); as well as many wonderful grandchildren and great-grandchildren, all of whom made her extremely proud. She will be missed greatly by all.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 2, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at the chapel of Ocala First United Methodist Church, 1126 E. Silver Springs Blvd., Ocala, FL 34470. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn, 5740 South Pine Ave., Ocala, FL 34480, with a reception at Forest Lawn immediately afterwards.
