A retired nurse and caregiver, Avril's lifespan has not come to an end with her death. She lived a full and courageous life surrounded by family and friends who loved her. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren will continue to honor her legacy by living their lives to their fullest.
She was beautiful and charismatic, fair of face and stout of heart and made everyone who met her laugh out loud. Although shy, she was no shrinking violet. She kept the laughter bubbling over wherever she went. A very glamorous woman who never wore the same outfit twice. She was the leader of the pack.
She was industrious to a fault and was the center of attention. As a young talented woman, we crowded around her watching in admiration while she worked her magic on her Singer machine, weaving intricate patterns as she did her embroidery craft.
She was faithful, respectful, and obedient servant to her parents, and was a generous sister to her siblings who benefitted from that liberality.
After she left Jamaica in 1954 at age 23, she travelled to England, residing there for decades before coming to America. She also lived in France for about one year before settling down in New York to earn her nursing degree.
After what at times in her later years proved to be a difficult life, and having completed her task, we know that she can now rest in peace in the loving arms of our Father.
