David was born Jan. 29, 1940, in Worcester, Massachusetts, the son of the late Murray and Reva (Gordon) Andelman. He was a graduate of the University of Florida, and he spent a lifetime serving his country, first in the U.S. Air Force and then with the U.S. Department of Justice.
David is survived by his devoted wife of 17 years, Deborah (Donohue) Andelman; sister Sheila Padoll, Virginia; son Robert (Katelyn), Rhode Island; and grandchildren Jacob and Reagan, who will forever cherish the time they spent with him. He was a loving stepfather to Martin Donohue (Eileen), Colorado; Denise Chranowski (Steve), Texas; and Dane Donohue (Jill), Pennsylvania; and step grandchildren Christopher and Shane Donohue, Steven and Hunter Chranowski, and Madison Donohue; in addition to a nephew, several nieces and cousins.
David, known for his love of both history and current events, volunteered for many years at The Newseum in Washington, D.C. He was a grassroots political activist, volunteering his knowledge and time in several recent political campaigns. He loved traveling the world with his wife, Deborah, spending time with his family, and following the Boston Red Sox and the Miami Dolphins.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date and location. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association at www.heart.org or www.freedomforum.org, a foundation which supports First Amendment freedoms and which, for many years, hosted The Newseum, where David volunteered.
