

Born in St. Louis, Missouri, he earned a degree in Chemical Engineering from Missouri University of Science and Technology in Rolla and an MBA from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. In his long professional career, he worked for DuPont, Mallinckrodt and Monsanto, from which he retired from Quality Assurance in 2004.
David was a passionate lifelong learner and philatelist, honored as Distinguished Topical Philatelist by the American Topical Association in 2022. He shared his love of stamps through various publications, including The New CartoPhilatelist, Enophilatelica and The Philatelic Gourmet.
His hobbies extended to woodworking, golf, travel, and volunteering with groups like the Wolfensberger Family Association, Missouri Botanical Gardens, Habitat for Humanity and Junior Achievement. He was also a skilled cook, and loved sharing meals with family and friends, often paired with a glass of wine or a Manhattan.
David had a curious and adventurous spirit. He was a fan of bluegrass and country music, a Civil War history enthusiast, and a crossword puzzle solver. He also enjoyed visiting St. Louis Cardinal minor league baseball stadiums and playing golf in Scottsdale, AZ. Over the years, he and his family lived in several places, including Charleston, WV; Edwardsville, IL; Luling (New Orleans), LA; Glendale (St. Louis), MO; and finally, Ocala, FL.
Family was central to David’s life. He cherished time spent with his wife of 58 years, Kathleen, and their three children: Cheryl (Dieter Keltner), Matthew (Michelle), and Rebecca (Joe Daly). He deeply valued his role as a grandfather to Gabriel and Nathan. David is also survived by his sister, Betty Ann (Jim Nordhaus), and their family.
The committal will be held at Resurrection Cemetery in St. Louis, MO, on January 17, 2026.
