Dorothy May Wohlfarth Brau Lavallee, 76, of Summerfield, a retired operating room and heart transplant team nurse, mother, Gamma, a favorite Aunt, world traveler, pool lover, and redhead, peacefully passed away Tuesday, April 7, 2015 after a courageous battle against cancer.
Dotty was born in Homestead, PA, the tenth of twelve children born to Carl and Hazel Wohlfarth. She moved to Hollywood, FL in 1953 as a 14 year-old and attended South Broward High School for two years and graduated from Central Catholic (St. Thomas Aquinas) High School in 1956. She then attended St. Mary’s nursing school in West Palm Beach and graduated as a Registered Nurse in 1959. She worked at Jackson Memorial in Miami and Tallahassee Memorial, retiring in 1997 and moving to Cocoa Beach. She moved to Summerfield in 2005.
Dotty was married to John Brau in 1963 and Edward Lavallee in 2011 who both preceded her in death. She is survived by four sons: Kevin (married to Lynn) of Poquoson, VA; Keith (married to Angela) of Fredericksburg, VA; John, Jr. of San Antonio, TX; and Jimmy (married to Michelle) of Provo, UT; three sisters: Pat Davis, Ginger Foley, and Nancy Woodall; 12 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
A memorial mass was held on Saturday, April 11, 2015 at St. Timothy Catholic Church, 1351 Paige Pl., Lady Lake, FL 32159.
