Earline Mae “Sonia” Williams had a gift for turning ordinary moments into joyful gatherings — a meal, a prayer, or a laugh that filled the room. With grateful hearts, we share news of her passing on the evening of October 23, 2025. She will be remembered as a devoted wife, loving grandmother, and spirited woman whose warmth drew people together wherever she went.
Earline was born in St. Elizabeth Parish, Jamaica, on November 2, 1938, to Lillian Falconer and Elsworth Varrion Falconer. She was one of sixteen children.
In her early twenties, she welcomed the first loves of her life — her three children — in Jamaica.
1. Her firstborn, Jimmy Picart (1957)
2. Her first daughter, Angela Samuels (née Picart) (1959)
3. Her youngest child, Charmaine Garel (née Blackwood) (1964)
Her journey to Canada began in 1969, where she would later meet her forever love, Wesley George Williams, a Jamaican native who had immigrated from England. Married in the early 1980s, their union brought her the joy of becoming a mom “in love” to Mark Williams and Pauline Williams, both of whom she cherished deeply.
In addition to being a wife, mother, and grandmother, Earline was a woman of faith. Keeping God first in her life — with no excuses — was a message she lived and taught. Her heart of gold, quick wit, and honest words made her unforgettable. She was strong, loving, and intentional — grounded in faith and purpose.
Faith guided every part of her life — at home, in her church, and in her work. For more than twenty years, she served as a Health Care Aide at Extendicare North York, offering comfort, compassion, and care to many.
Her family remembers her for her remarkable sense of order and love for togetherness. She picked up her grandchildren from school, had dinner ready by 4 p.m. sharp for her husband every evening, and made sure everyone gathered at her home for birthdays, anniversaries, or Saturday barbecues “just because the weather was nice.” Don’t forget the mean pots of soup where she hid the Jamaican “spinners” dumplings for everyone to find. Saturday sleepovers for the grandkids meant treats and sweets — but Sunday morning meant church.
Earline set the tone for family and created the foundation of a lasting legacy.
She was also the light and life of any circle — best dressed, confident, witty, and graceful strut that silenced every room. Her family remained the sparkle in her eyes, and her faith held steady through every storm. Earline was fearless, loving, and remarkable — a woman who lived fully and gave deeply.
As she takes her well-earned rest, Earline “Sonia” Mae Williams’s laughter, strength, and unshakable faith remain the heartbeat of her family — a light that will never go out.
