06/25/1945 – 08/27/2025
James Harvey Corbett, a proud U.S. Marine and lifelong Floridian, passed away at his home in Cross Creek, Florida. He was born in West Palm Beach and eventually made his home in the quiet woods and waters of Cross Creek, where he lived out his life doing what he loved most.
A hardworking man of few words and deep thoughts, Jim was known for his quiet strength, kind heart, and steady presence. He served his country with honor as a Marine and carried that same sense of duty and resilience into every part of his life which included his career as a mechanic with Rinker Materials and then on to manage his own business.
An avid outdoorsman, he found peace and purpose in nature’s beauty. He loved to hunt, fish, and especially enjoyed the thrill of alligator hunting. He will be remembered through many things he handcrafted with love.
Those who knew him respected his quiet wisdom and deep connection to the land. He did not speak often, but when he did, it mattered. He will be remembered for his strong spirit, his love of the wild, and the quiet way he gave so much to those around him.
He is survived by his wife Lynne Corbett of Lake Worth; one son Royce Corbett of Lobelville, TN, three daughters Carrie Corbett of West Palm Beach, FL, Katie Chiu (Asa) of Wellington, FL, Lisa Ernston (Dave) of Belmont, NC.: grandchildren Shyrell (Michael), Royce (preceded in death), Jake, Bradley, Jackson, Regan, and Sophie, great grandchildren Hanna, Kayla, and Carly, many nieces and nephews. He has left a legacy of strength, honor, and love for the outdoors. He is now with his beloved family Jeslyn, James Jefferson, Carolyn “Jean”, Janet, and Jeraldine “Jerri”.
A service will be held at the South Florida National Cemetery on December 29th at 3pm. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you spend a quiet moment in nature, casting a line, or watching the sunrise—just the way he would have liked.
