John was a mentor and a good friend of mine when my family started attending  Faith Baptist Church in Pekin, IL back in the  early 1970's. He was always involved with the youth and was a very strong influence on my life. I am thankful that the Lord allowed me to know John, and that he allowed John to be such a great influence on my life. He will be greatly missed. Until we meet in Heaven my friend. My sister and I were always the first ones to school at 6:45 a.m. in the morning during our elementary years at Grace. Mr Johnston was always there to greet us with a warm smile amd hug. On Fridays, he would give us a cookie ticket to use at lunch time. Sometimes he would also give us $0.50 for a Coke as a treat. He was always so thoughtful, kind, and generous. I have such sweet memories of Mr. Johnston and I'm so thankful that my sister and I got to spend time with him those early mornings.
