On August 1, 2015, Justin Harry LaManna, "Jake", passed away peacefully at the age of 81, just 9 days after the passing of his beloved wife of 60 years, June Ann LaManna. A former resident of Memphis, NY and Fruitland Park, FL., he loved to be wherever the golf courses were open. Jake took great pride in every one of his children's and grandchildren's accomplishments. Father of 6 children: Joseph (Connie), Jason (Laurie), Jamie (Amy), Justin J. , Jordan (Tammy), and Jill (Dawayne); Grandfather to 14: Angela, Justin, Caroline (Tim), Dominique (Jerry), Catherine, Christine, Jamie Ryan, Justin V., Joseph A. , Renee (Matt), Jeffery, Sarah (Sean), Audrey (Mark), Dan (Teresa), along with many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Jake was born on August 3, 1933, to the late Harriette Ethelyn Woodard, in Burlington Vermont. His father, the late Joseph A. LaManna, brought him to Fulton NY, where Justin attended school, and graduated in 1952. Justin's fondest childhood memories were those of his "Solvay" days, and spending time with his LaManna and DiGiulio cousins.
After high school, Justin enlisted in the Navy and served proudly for 3 years, returning home to marry his high school sweet heart, June Ann Battles. He then worked at Crucible Steel for 10 years. In 1965, around the time of birth of their 6th child, Jake quit the Steel mill, and started a new career with General Electric. Jake loved his job, and traveled the world for many years as a Sales Engineer. In 1991, he retired from GE, and began enjoying life as a Snow Bird. Jake and June moved to a retirement community in Fruitland Park Florida where he served as an executive on the board of directors for many years.
Jake loved all sports but his passion was watching SU basketball and blasting Coach Boeheim! He loved bowling and golf and playing Camillus Country Club with his sons and grandsons. June and Jake enjoyed their golf leagues with their friends.
Calling hours for Justin and June will be on Saturday August 8, 2015 from 9 am to 11:30 am at BAGOZZI TWINS FUNERAL HOME, 2601 Milton Ave., Solvay, NY 13209 with funeral services immediately following at 11:30 am. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Warners.
