Luis A. Nieves

Luis Alberto Nieves, 86 of Summerfield passed away on Feb 3rd at Leesburg Regional Medical Center with his family by his side. Luis was born to the late Zeno Nieves and Juana Lopez in Hatillo, Puerto Rico. Luis graduated from Hatillo High School and moved to New York City where he became a baker at the Cookie Jar Bakery. In 1963 Luis married Rosario Llavatt and moved to New Jersey where they lived for 35 years while raising their children. They moved to Summerfield in 2007 where they enjoyed spending time with their neighbors, traveling, church friends and spending time at the Villages. Luis is survived by his devoted wife of 52 years Rosario and 3 beautiful daughters that were the light of his life, Maria Luisa Herrera and husband Manny of Inverness, FL., Camella East and husband Walter of Linwood, NJ., Barbara Michelle Wilkins and husband Dennis of Hammonton, NJ., brother- Gumersindo Nieves of P.R., sister- Dolores Nieves of P.R., 7 grandchildren Cynthia, Nicole, Samantha, Stephen, Dennis, Jonathan, Anthony and 2 great grandchildren- Christopher and Adam. 2 nieces Carmen D. Mieles Nieves, Myrna Mieles Nieves and nephew Gumersindo Nieves, Jr., The family will be receiving friends on Thursday, Feb 5th at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 5740 S. Pine Ave, Ocala, FL from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, the funeral Mass on Friday, 12:00 noon at Blessed Trinity Catholic Church with the committal to service at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens Cemetery.
