Just happened to look up Cathy aka Mary Malone.  We met when we were 13 yrs old and friends until early 20s .  Life drifted apart but I thought of her often.  RIF old friend.  Many memories.  Kathy LoBianco

   Teachers called her Mary Malone, family and friends called her Cathy Malone and then there were a few of us who affectionately called her Joey Brown.  I think she may have been given that nickname because she loved to make people laugh; like a comedian famous at the time, Joe E. Brown.
      More than laughter, she loved to dance.   Every weekend we would go 'lounging'; that's 'clubbing' today.  The 'happening' place was The Velvet Lounge on 63rd St.  They had a live band and she’d begin dancing as soon as she heard the music.  We were underage, but that didn’t stop us.  We had fake ID's and attitude!  
She taught me to walk in with confidence, poise and a smile!
      We both married young and started our families. Our lives got busy still we occasionally found time to get together with our kids for what would be called a 'play date' today.
      In 1978, I moved to California and during the first few years I visited Chicago and friends regularly.   However, as the years passed we drifted apart and simply lost contact, though I thought of her often.   When Facebook came along I searched various names hoping to find her or a family member, with no luck.
      About 3 years ago, I got a message on Facebook from Cathy Parker.   I immediately knew it had to be my old friend and was thrilled to hear from her!  Thereafter, from time to time, we spent hours on the phone; catching up and reminiscing.   I got to know all about her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. We talked about how fun it would be to see each other again.  I wanted so badly to get back to Chicago and make that happen; regrettably that was not to be.
      I am truly sorry that she is gone, way too soon, but am forever grateful that we reconnected; even if it was only for a short while. I will miss her and her spunk and passion for life.
      My deepest condolences to all of her many friends and family for your loss.
I know she loved you all very much!

Cathy always walked in a room smiling and her laugh was contagious. She was so caring and friendly to everyone she met. She will be missed. My heart breaks for her kids and grandkids, may God help you through your grief so that you can focus on your wonderful memories.

I'll never forget when Cathy came to Indiana for my Wedding. She died her hair in my bathtub for a pretty color. Needless to say I have die all over my bathroom, all over my towels and walls.We laughed it off. Cathy was always making people laugh. She always had a smile on her face.
