Mary Pennington

Mary E. Pennington, age 96, of Ocala went home to be with the Lord on March 27, 2013. She was born on October 8, 1916, in Tillery, NC a daughter to the late Charlie and Grace Suggs. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband Robert and three sons, Willie Thomas, Eugene and James. She was a member of the New Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church. Her affiliations include the Church Women United, the Pioneers, and the Mission Society. She was retired from Bell Telephone Company. Her family remembers her as a very outgoing person who could have a conversation with anyone, she was a take charge woman. She enjoyed arts and crafts and loved to sew and macramé. She leaves behind to cherish her memory a son Raymond (Yvonne) Pennington in Bronx, NY, a daughter Emma Abernethy in Ocala, a sister Pauline Stubbs in Orland and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren. A visitation has been scheduled for Tuesday April 2, 2013 from 6:00pm-8:00pm at Forest Lawn Funeral Home. A Home Going Celebration will be held on Wednesday April 3, 2013 at 11:00am at the New Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to the Sickle Cell Foundation.
