Olive, known as Nana to everyone, was born September 21 1920 to James Cooke and Joyce Mitchell in St. Elizabeth Jamaica, West Indies.
After high school she joined the British army during WW2.
After WW2 ended she emigrated to Harlem NYC in 1948 and met and married her husband Raymond Brown.
Olive and Raymond went on to have four children, Norman, Raymone, Peter and Paul.
They lived In Harlem but eventually moved to the North Bronx.
She worked as a CNA at Morningside Nursing Home until her retirement whereupon she moved to Ocala,Florida.
Nana's love of her children,grandchildren and great grandchildren was deep and will be missed. Nana loved dogs and Tootsie was her companion and friend for many years. Nana's other love was flowers and plants.
Nana is survived by her two sons, Peter and Paul as well as many grandchildren, great grandchildren, friends and neighbors.
Nana lived a long life filled with love and compassion.
May she rest in peace.
