Paul Edward Ferrell passed away on January 18, 2019 in Gainesville, Florida. Preceded in death by his mother and father, Paul leaves behind his wife of 37 years, Donna Ferrell of Ocala, his son Jason Ferrell of Ocala, his daughter Jenny Ferrell of Ocala, his daughter in law Jennifer Shelby of Ocala, his sister MaryAnne Massey of Summerfield and many nieces, nephews and friends.
It’s hard to capture Paul’s personality, but here it goes. Paul took fashion cues form no one. He had his own unique style which includes funny T-shirts, to Hawaiian shirts to cowboy hats. Paul had an insatiable sweet tooth. He loved getting a 5 pound Hershey bar for Christmas which he usually got each year. He was a collector of many things (coins, stamps, Coca-Cola items and the list goes on). He was a treasure hunter who liked to find unique items at yard sales and antique stores.
Paul loved American history, especially the civil war and western era. He had many books on the subjects that he would like to read. He loved researching and learning about his ancestry and tracing back his heritage. He found many interesting stories about his ancestors and was able to trace his family back hundreds of years. He loved living in McIntosh with his plop of land and little ”pond”. He said, “There was always something to do”. If you say you are bored, he would find something for you to do. He loved nature. He especially liked watching the hawks soar around and when deer and turkeys came through the yard.
He loved a good old cookout. His pride and joy was his “Paul Bunion Burger”. I kid you not, he would make a 5 or 10 pound burger on the grill. It was amazing, and it made him happy! He was a big kid at heart who liked to have fun and joke.
He never met a stranger. He had a knack for striking up a conversation with anyone. He was very loving and protective with his family and friends.
The family wishes to thank our family and friends who have been so supportive. We will have a celebration of life for Paul at a later date.
