Robert William Kumpan

He was born at home in Johnstown, NY on February 26th, 1927 to hardworking Slovakian immigrants, Cyprian Kumpan and Leopoldina Sramek.

In his 99 years, he wore many hats: musician, Barbershop chorus, artist, architect, Boy Scout troop leader, Johnstown Alderman, and ski patrolman.

He was especially proud of his service in the United States Navy during 2nd World War.

One takeaway most can agree on is that he was one of the funniest guys around, with an unending quick wit and a library of jokes that kept us constantly laughing.

He is survived by his wife, Janet; his children, Thomas (Melissa) Kumpan, Timothy Kumpan, Shayna (Bill) Murry, Mitchell (Carly) Jordan, John (Kristen) Jordan, Julie (John) O’Donnell; his grandchildren, Timothy (Christina) Kumpan, Reid Witalis, Jamie Jordan, Declan, Aidan, Caitlin O’Donnell; his great grandson, Timothy Kumpan; and extended family.

He was predeceased by his first wife, JoAnn Joyce; his son, Daniel Joseph Kumpan; his sister, Wilhelmina Pope; and his brother, Paul Kumpan.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in honor of Bob to your local hospice, charity, or Veterans’ organization.

He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
