Angela Alvarez

Angela Alvarez, 85, of Barnegat, NJ, passed away peacefully on August 9, 2025. Born in Panama on April 12, 1940, she was predeceased by her beloved son, Miguel, and is survived by her devoted husband of 54 years, Ricaurte, whom she married in 1971. She is also survived by her daughter, Juliana of Maplewood, NJ; her daughter-in-law, Kimberly of Tinton Falls, NJ; and her cherished granddaughters, Angela Marie and Natalie Marie.

Angela’s life was shaped by love, determination, and service. She met the love of her life at a social dance in New York City, and together they settled in Barnegat to raise their family, where they remained for more than 50 years. A graduate of Stockton College, she pursued her curiosity across many disciplines, studying finance, humanities, and religion. Angela dedicated her professional life to helping others as a social worker for the New Jersey Department of Social Services before her retirement.

Her interests were as varied as her talents; tending to her garden, losing herself in a good book, solving crossword puzzles, and indulging in shopping trips. She was also a gifted pianist who found joy in music. A woman of strong faith, Angela devoted time to her church, volunteering and offering prayers for family and friends alike. To her granddaughters, she was Abuela “The Original Girl Boss”, fiercely independent, private, and in command of her own path.

A private service will be held in her honor. The family asks for continued prayers for strength as they grieve not only the loss of Angela, but also the recent and tragic passing of her son.
