Many memories of Benji from our youth in Oakhurst, as adults in Asbury, and from last talking to him out here in Edinburgh. Perhaps no recollection is more fundamental than as two children playing Mario Brothers 2, muted, so we could listen to Mel Brooks stand-up on vinyl. I certainly hadn’t met any 8-year-olds with that much range.

Distinctive character with an instinctual insight into humour, pathos and empathy. His awareness was effortlessly broad, making him able to perform, yet warm and welcoming. He was a fine curator of circumstance, making moments with him unattached to any dull mechanics. Not just anyone can do that. For me, his vim lives on in that lesson. 

Mine, my mother Joanne's, and my family’s condolences to William, Deanna, Pete and Laurie, Jodi, Brad and all who are mourning. I trust such memories are lending company to you too. He will be deeply missed. Be well. 

Dear Bill, Dee, Laurie, Jodi, and Brad;
When our Adam forwarded me Benjy's obituary it brought tears to my eyes.  My heart goes out to you all, I am so stunned at this terrible news and so very, very sorry.  I remember so well every week when Bill and little Benjy would walk on their sabbath past our house on Lake Avenue to their synagogue.  We would get to say hello and catch up with Bill while Benjy would wait patiently, as little as he was.
 I just can't imagine how difficult it is for all of you to suffer his loss--you are such sweet, loving people. Please know that even though time and distance have separated our ties, there are fond memories of you all and the feelings of kinship that come from a shared time together long ago. George and I feel your pain. We are so very, very sorry. 
 We send to all of you our love and support and the hope that you will soon be able to find some peace.


Ben was my brother in law.  Our family will never be the same without him.  This is a tremendous loss that we just can not ever see recovering from, because it just does not make any sense.   Some gaps in life can be filled, but this gap is endless and the void in life without Ben will never seem to be true and can never be filled. We will miss him to the ends of the earth and I will not let God of the hook for this cruel act he pulled on our family... Bless you Benny, until we meet again...

I met Ben a few years ago, and all I have to say is that he was a caring, thoughtful, big hearted, funny person. My heart breaks knowing that is not around anymore.  He would always make me laugh, we would sing songs together, watch Marvel movies together. I will never forget the times I spent with him, he will always have a place in my heart!

Ben was such a funny and just all around awesome guy  I am so glad I got to call him friend, I am gonna miss him so much. He always made me smile so much. The world isn't gonna be the same without him. Such a loss. Rest in power buddy. You will never be forgotten. 

 I am so sorry for the loss of your brother and son. I wish peace and comfort to  you and to your family as you go through this journey of mourning and healing. You are in my thoughts during this difficult time. 


How do I begin. Benny was a kind sweet man. With talent and raw charisma. He was a damn fine worker. As if he was born to music and musical engineering. All aspects entertainment seemed to come so naturally. He himself could have had a gold career as a comedian. Which we made sure he knew his talent far exceeded those who just thought they were funny. His laugh made me smile and laugh out loud at any quips or jokes of that day. He Always kept life free of stress or upheaval. Something he gave me,that I didn't know I needed. He is,was and always will be loved admired and never forgotten. The last I saw my friend. Was in 2018 at his sisters bar Knuckleheads here in SC for New Years. That was that last I saw his smiling eyes. Something I will miss dearly. My most heart felt condolences to the Bleefeld family..

When I first started playing music in the Asbury Park scene, Ben was one of the first musicians to show up to support my efforts at The Saint.  Such an uplifting funny guy, he was inspiring to me.  RIP

Im not sure when i met ben but i knew him for a good number of years.  I saw him play in turtle soup and he was a talented musician
    Every time i saw him he was friendly and wanted to talk..
    I only saw him twice in 2021.. once when he was working at sea hear now and again at primus at the pony..and he always had time to talk..
       He will be sorely missed..

Ben was always laughing and greeted me with the biggest and best smile! Going to miss you friend and bumping into you on my bike rides through Asbury Park! Here’s a photo from the Sea Hear Now build this past September. I was yelling at Ben from the boardwalk as I spotted him as I was biking and got him to pose quickly for a photo and I’m so glad I did ❤️ Ben was a true friend, he and his amazing spirit will be dearly missed!

Friends since kindergarten. So many fond memories growing up I don’t know where to begin. From our adventures through the woods, to our Shabbat hangouts, we were always up to no good. We had the pleasure of meeting up in person in 2019 after almost 20 years. Rest In Peace buddy. You will be missed  😢
