Harold Rosenblatt, beloved father, grandfather, and devoted family man, passed away peacefully at the age of 82 June 9, 2025, in his home in Pembroke Pines, Florida. Born on August 25, 1942, in Brooklyn, New York, Harold lived a life shaped by resilience, humor, and deep love for his family.
He was the proud father of Suzanne Schwarz and Bernard Rosenblatt, and the adoring grandfather of Tristan and Maxwell Schwarz — who were the light of his life. Harold faced profound challenges early on, losing his first wife Marilyn at the young age of 26. Left to raise a 16-month-old daughter and a 5-year-old son with special needs, Harold committed himself to providing and caring for his family with strength and determination.
He worked full-time as a teacher in New York City for the board of education and part-time as a supervisor for the New York City Parks Department. He was known for his sharp wit and hilariously occasionally inappropriate sense of humor that brought laughter even in the hardest moments.
Later in life, Harold married a woman from Ecuador, Betty and wholeheartedly welcomed her extended family into his life. He helped many of them become U.S. citizens and supported them as his own, embodying his generous spirit and deep devotion to family.
Despite periods of estrangement, particularly with his daughter Suzanne, it was Harold’s grandsons Tristan and Maxwell who brought them back together — reminding them of the love that always remained beneath the surface. Their reconnection was a true gift in Harold’s final years.
Harold spent decades living in Spotswood, New Jersey, where he was an active member of the Monroe Chabad community. After moving to Florida, he remained involved with his local Chabad until his passing. Though he faced increasing health challenges, Harold’s heart — full of love and loyalty — never wavered.
Above all, Harold wanted peace and family. That was his greatest wish, and it defined his life’s legacy. He will be missed dearly and remembered always by those who knew his strength, his humor, and the deep love he gave so freely.
A funeral service for Harold will be held Wednesday, June 11, 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Bloomfield-Cooper Jewish Chapels, 2130 Highway 35, Ocean, NJ 07712. Following the funeral service will be a committal service from 2:00 PM to 2:30 PM at Beth Israel Cemetery, 1098 Woodbridge Center Dr, Woodbridge Township, NJ 07095.
