

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Jann Benzilio, age 76, announces her passing on 8/23/2025 at her home in Ocean NJ, surrounded by her loved one’s. Jann was the daughter of Albert and Stella Benzilio. She spent her early years as a perfect daughter, sister and student in Franklin Township, NJ. She attended Trenton State College and graduated with a BA degree in the Arts.
As a true artist at heart, she chose to teach her talents to students at Edison High School in Edison NJ. Jann had a long and fulfilling career where she was revered by students and teachers alike. A recipient of several awards, Jann excelled in every aspect of her life and was adored by many for her positive attitude, helpful hand and generous heart. She wore a contagious smile everywhere she went.
Jann settled in East Brunswick, NJ to raise her family while maintaining her teaching career before moving to Monmouth country where she retired. She was active in her community, enjoyed time with her partner, family and friends and loved traveling and painting, while bringing happiness wherever she went.
Jann was deeply loved by so many. She was an amazing mother and grandmother, a terrific sister, a special aunt, a great step-mother, a wonderful wife and life partner and a true friend. In the last 3 years she got the most fun from being Nona to her 3-yr old granddaughter Jade. Jann was one of those people who could light up a room and brought joy to all who were lucky enough to know her. She will leave a lasting impression on the many hearts she touched.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Arica Rudnick, her son-in law David Kravitz and granddaughter Jade of California, her devoted long-term partner, Rob Spiegel of Ocean NJ, her loving siblings, sister Barbara Maiorano of Long Branch NJ, sister Roberta Benzilio of Manhattan, NY, brother Lenny Benzilio of East Brunswick, NJ, her Stepson Justin Cangelosi and his children Tucker and Blake of Ocean County and her Stepdaughter Cara Cangelosi and her son JP of Holmdel, NJ
Jann shared a special bond with her husband, Frank Cangelosi of Ocean NJ, who predeceased her Oct 24th, 2009. Jann’s kindness, generosity, and unwavering love for her family and friends will never be forgotten.
The service will be held on 8/26/2025 at 11am at Bloomfield Cooper Jewish Chapel Ocean, NJ, at 2130 Highway 35, Ocean NJ, followed by the internment at Woodbine Cemetery at 14 Maple Ave, Oceanport, NJ.
The family will be sitting shiva at 8 Magnolia Court, Ocean NJ 07712 on Tuesday August 26 from 6-8pm and on Wednesday and Thursday August 27 and 28th from 2-4pm and 6-8pm.
In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made in memory of Jann to her favorite charities: Fulfill (The Food Bank of Monmouth County) or St Jude’s Children Hospital.
