Lori Silver was a warrior in the true sense of the word. She waged a long and arduous battle with both ovarian and breast cancer, but the time finally came to stop fighting. For nearly six years she dealt with complications and innumerable setbacks, but with her spirit and will she kept coming back. Finally, her battle is over and she is at peace.
Born in Irvington NJ, Lori grew up in Avenel NJ where at a very early age she showed a natural talent and love for figure skating. Growing up she honed her skill and began winning many local and regional competitions, ultimately resulting in an invitation to audition for the Ice Capades. Although she passed the audition an injury ultimately derailed her skating career, although it was always one of her lifelong passions which she continued with on a non-competitive level.
As a young woman Lori held numerous positions in retail management, and ultimately met her husband Scott, who was also in retail. In 1988 they were married, beginning a 34-year partnership. They shared a love of ice hockey (especially the NY Rangers), skiing with Scott’s family in Vermont, and most notably music. Lori loved going out to clubs to follow local popular bands and ultimately in 1997, she and Scott started a business to market and promote these local bands. Lori was instrumental in the early days in building up client bands for PASS Productions as she enthusiastically sought out talented musicians for Scott to promote.
Sadly, Lori’s declining health began to cause problems for her, even during the late 90’s and early 2000’s when she was the primary caregiver for her parents who ultimately both succumbed to cancer. Lori put their care above her own health issues and bravely took care of them until they passed. Lori’s relationship with her parents was very special. Their loss was a huge blow from which she never fully recovered.
Fulfilling a lifelong dream of living by the shore, Lori and Scott moved to Toms River in 2010. Lori enjoyed spending time with her beloved Ragdoll cats – Trixie, Georgie and Rainey. She would often join Scott at the clubs when he was working shows with the bands. When at home she loved to watch movies and play games with her friends online.
In late 2016 Lori was diagnosed with cancer. What has followed over these past six years is an unimaginable array of complications and setbacks. Somehow, Lori soldiered on, never giving up her battle until her body was simply too damaged to win the fight. Lori is predeceased by her beloved parents George and Lorraine Stoll, her brother Thomas Stoll, and her loving mother-in-law Barbara Silver. She is survived by her loving husband Scott, her father-in-law Lee Silver, sister-in-law Gerri Stoll, sister-in-law Barrie-Hope Coffey, brother-in-law Gary Coffey, as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Lori will always be remembered and missed by the many friends made over the years in the music community and the bands she helped to promote. Plans have begun for a Celebration of Life concert to be held at a future date.
