Sanford Louis Obolsky passed away peacefully on January 13, 2021. Born on February 28, 1929 to Albert and Elsie Obolsky in Jersey City, NJ, “Sandy” graduated from New York University with a degree in accounting. He served in the army in Korea, then worked as an accountant for Purolator company. He married Roslyn and they lived in Jersey City NJ before settling in Iselin, where the family lived for 36 years. Sandy continued his career at Topper Toys, to the delight of his then young children, and finished his career as Comptroller for Lessner Electric contracting.
Always a kibitzer, Sandy will be remembered for his quick wit and ready sense of humor. He was a member of the “lucky generation” who came from modest means, made a remarkable career and comfortable life for his family, then was able to enjoy retirement in Lakewood with his beloved wife of 66 years, Roslyn Davis Obolsky.
Surviving are his wife Roslyn, son Leonard and his wife Janice and children Benjamin and Hannah, daughter Lisa and a vast extended family, both by blood and chosen.
A celebration of a long happy life will take place graveside on Sunday, January 17, at 1:00 p.m. at King Solomon Memorial Park, Clifton, NJ. The family will open their home in Lakewood, NJ for a traditional Jewish 6-day shiva. In light of COVID the family is asking no one, but welcoming anyone who cares to, come visit.
