

Simon Jay Gershon, 85, of Ocean, New Jersey passed away on August 29th, 2017. Simon proudly served his country in the U.S. Airforce as a crew chief on the first jet trainers at Williams Airforce Base in Arizona. Before his retirement, Simon worked for Shoprite and the U.S. Postal Service. He was a member of Temple Torat-El and an avid airplane and boat enthusiast. Sy as he was known to colleagues, and Jay to his family and friends was a kind man whose smile and humor brought joy to all who knew him. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Charlotte and his sister Joyce Nahan. He leaves his sons Rabbi William and Robert Gershon, brother Charles Gershon, daughter in-law Cantor Raquel Pomerantz Gershon, special companion Stephanie Snow, four grandchildren whom he adored: Kalee Davis, Benjamin, Eliana, Yonatan Gershon and great grandson Brayden Davis. He will be dearly missed by cousins, nieces and nephews and their families.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday August 31st at Agudath Achim Cemetery, 2540 West Bangs Avenue, Neptune, NJ. Bloomfield-Cooper Jewish Chapels, Ocean, are in charge of arrangements.
