Stephen Bruce Gale, 80, of Keyport, New Jersey, passed away on June 22, 2026. Born on March 9, 1946, to Manuel and Norma Gale, Stephen spent the majority of his life in Keyport, alongside a memorable chapter of nearly 25 years living in Colorado.
After earning his undergraduate degree from Syracuse University and a graduate architecture degree from the University of Colorado, Stephen began his career as a disaster insurance inspector. However, his heart was in real estate speculation and historic preservation. He managed his real estate interests into his 70s and generously volunteered his time with historical architecture communities in Denver, where he worked to create historical designations for the Uptown Denver and Park Avenue districts.
Stephen was a quiet, intelligent man who always exhibited a gentle spirit. A man who deeply appreciated the peaceful comfort of personal solitude, he was always friendly, warm, and genuinely interested in what was going on in the lives of others when surrounded by family and friends. He found immense joy in life’s simple pleasures, whether he was tending to his plants, flowers, and gardens, actively participating in his local French speaking groups, cheering on the Denver University (DU) and NY Rangers hockey teams, or seeking out a classic Jewish deli.
To Stephen, a good day was made of the simplest things: a quiet moment and his absolute favorite daily ritual - simply enjoying his regular drip cup of coffee from Starbucks.
Stephen is survived by his younger brother, Mark, and his sister-in-law, Victoria; his nephew, Matthew; his niece, Nicole Bolick; and his first cousins, Margarie and Eileen. He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Manuel and Norma.
A Committal Service will be held at Beth Israel Cemetery, 1098 Woodbridge Center Dr, Woodbridge Township, NJ 07095, US, on June 24, 2026, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm.
