Stuart Leyden

Born in Brooklyn, he lived in Holmdel before moving to Ocean in 1984.

Mr. Leyden owned Sportsmans Trading Post of America, a marine and ski supply business in Union and Shrewsbury for many years. After that, he was a successful mortgage banker until he retired.

He served in the US Navy. An avid golfer, he was Club Champion and Past President of Battleground Country Club, Manalapan. He also belonged to Woodlake County Club, Lakewood.

Son of the late Henry and Lillian Leyden, he was also predeceased by his brothers Paul and Howard Leyden.

He was the beloved husband of Linda (Bartok) Leyden for 31 years and cherished father of Daniel Leyden and his wife Dina, Jeffrey Leyden and his wife Kim, Julie Youngblood and her husband Boyd, and devoted stepfather of Jill Skubik and her husband Dave and Mindy Wheeler and her partner Jen. Most importantly, he was the loving Poppy and Grandpa of Scott, Eric, Alyssa, Hunter and Jake Leyden, Kori and Hannah Wheeler, Brenna Trumper, Boyd Youngblood, and Samantha and Alison Skubik. His greatest joy was spending time with his family.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, June 15th at 11:00 am at Bloomfield Cooper Jewish Chapels, 2130 Route 35, Ocean, followed by interment at Congregation Agudith Achim Cemetery, Neptune. The family will sit shiva at their residence on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 2-4pm and 6-9pm,
