She was born February 21, 1924, the seventh child of seven children to James Marshall Cook and Etta Harless Cook, both of Cyclone. She married her husband of 58 years, Norman Reed Walls on June 28, 1941. She devoted her life to building a home and raising eight children and partially raising 2 or 3 of her grandchildren. She exemplified the meaning of self-sacrifice for her family. Her generation was the first in our community, to have the opportunity to have all of her children, graduate high school and some to get college degrees, a fact in which she was quietly very proud. She was a God-fearing Pentecostal, a member of the Campus Church of God almost from its inception in the late 1920's.
She was preceded in her passage by her parents Marshall Cook 1879-1945 and Etta Cook 1897-1960 and her six siblings: Mercel 1912-1912, Namaan Cook 1914-1959, Audrey Cook Walls 1920-1986, Lansing Cook 1918-1995, Oney Cook 1916- 1999, Pauline Cook Gibson 1924-2003, and one grandchild Jason Davis 1979-2012.
Left on this earth to await their reunion with her are her eight children: Karen and her husband Thomas G. Toler of Summersville, Dorothy and her husband Thomas Beam of Cleveland, OH, Eleanor and her husband Chelsey Noel of Cyclone, Marshall "Dick" Walls and his wife Jenny of Summersville, Norma Kay Walls of Charlotte, Janet and her husband John Woods of Fairfax, VA, Ruth and her husband Joe Cline of Cyclone, Jonathan and his wife Bobbie Walls of Summersville.
