Berta Maxine Martin

Berta Maxine Martin, 82, of Cyclone, departed this life to begin her heavenly journey on Friday April 15, 2016. Born May 23, 1933 at Cyclone, she was the daughter of the late Ashby and Lula Blankenship Brown. Maxine was a member of the Bright Prospect Missionary Baptist Church where she served as a former president of the Ladies auxiliary. She sang with the Brown trio for forty years and was an avid sports fan. Maxine was preceded in death by her husband, Rubert; sons, Grady Lee and Allen Stephen (Rudy) Martin; sister, Marie Lusk; brothers, Gary, Paris, Verlin, and Donald Brown. Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Andrea Martin and her husband Tim of Beckley, Melba Tolliver and her husband Charles of Cyclone, and Helen Spence of Gary; her brother, Chelsie Brown and his wife Yoko of Winston Salem NC: a sister, Garnet Brown of Saulsville; grandchildren, Jimmy Martin and his wife Donna of NC, Larry Martin of NC, Kris Spence and his wife Dena of Kopperston, McKalah Martin and Dylan Martin both of Beckley, Jada Tolliver of Cyclone, Justin Morgan and Matthew Martin of Oceana; great grandchildren, Braydon Martin, Kailyn and Paityn Spence, and a host of other family and friends.
