
Cameron, NC - Kara Lea Stewart Lockie, 37, formerly of Matheny, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, September 27, 2014 at Central Carolina Hospital. Born August 28, 1977 in Mullens, WV, she was the daughter of Ash Prince Stewart and Debra Diane Short Partridge. Kara was a member of Matheny United Methodist Church, where she was a youth group leader. She served as coach for her daughter’s baseball team (the Diamondbacks), loved the outdoors and loved the West Virginia Mountaineers. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Forest and Sadie Stewart and maternal grandfather, Leonard Short and an aunt, Lola Stewart. In addition to her parents, those left to cherish Kara’s memory are her husband, Trevor Lockie and her daughter, Tyler Alexis Stewart Rokosz of the home; a brother, Michael Kelly Pendry of Annapolis MD; a sister, Jamie Ryan O’Dell of Logansville, GA; her grandmother, Agnes Short of Clear Fork; her mother and father in law, Sharon and George Larkin of New York; brother in law, Chad Olmstead of Canada; and Eric Rokosz of TX, father of her daughter, Tyler Alexis. Also mourning her loss are aunts and uncles: Bill and Pat Blankenship, Paul and Sandy Childress, Jack and Linda Counts, Calvin and Louise Stewart, David and Josie Stewart, Earl and Alice Stewart, Bernard and Lakie Bailey, Windell and Brenda Stewart, Dale and Teresa Stewart, Sam and Lynn Stewart, and Ed Stewart; and a special cousin, Robin Shrewsbury. A celebration of life will be 11 am, Friday, October 3, 2014 at Evans Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Sheri Kernik and Rev. David White officiating. The family will receive friends 6-9 pm, Thursday, October 2, at the funeral home. Gentry Shrewsbury and Chad Olmstead will serve as honorary pallbearers.
