Katie Davis

Katie Davis, 85, of Mary’s Garden, Oak Hill, formerly of Kopperston was reunited with her husband in Heaven on Monday, November 2, 2015. Mrs. Davis was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Born February 22, 1930 in Oppy, KY, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Mary (Smith) Johnson. Mrs. Davis was a former member of Oceana Freewill Baptist Church for forty years, where she sang in the choir and was a member of the Ladies’ Aid Auxiliary. She attended The Family Praise and Worship Center in Oceana, until Alzheimer’s kept her from doing so. She was very dedicated to her churches and took pride in all that she did. She adored her children and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lacey Davis; grandson, Chad Davis; son-in-law, Dennie “Chico” Osborne; brothers, Homer, Joe, Willis and Ben Johnson; sisters, Dora Johnson, Sadie Hensley, Goldie McNeely and Ola (Granny) Muncy. Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Joan Davis Aliff and Shelia Osborne of Oceana, Nina Brewster and husband, Timothy of Beckley; sons, Danny Davis and wife, Susan of Grandview, Kenny Davis and wife, Rhonda of Davis, SC; grandchildren, Danny M. Davis, Aaron Osborne, Crystal Underwood, Matt Brewster, Lacey Davis and Cassidy Davis; great-grandchildren, Austin, Emily, Brayden, Kinley and Kylee Underwood and Raegan and Kennedy Davis; a special sister-in-law, Elsie Jewell; and a host of family and friends. Danny M. Davis, Aaron Osborne, Matt Brewster, Austin Underwood, Brayden Underwood, Jerry Stafford, Bobby Asbury, Oscar Justice and Johnny Evans will serve as pallbearers. Chad Davis will serve as an honorary pallbearer. The Davis family would like to say a special thank you to the ladies at Mary’s Garden who took such great care of “Katie Bug”.
