
Kenneth Douglas McKee, 78, of Oceana, passed away Wednesday, March 22, 2016, following a long, courageous battle with lung cancer. Born April 16, 1937 in Fayetteville, he was the son of the late Basil and Thelma Shreves McKee. Kenneth retired from coal mining, after working in various mines for over thirty one years. He was a proud veteran of the US Army. He served his country throughout the Cold War, during which he was stationed in Korea. He was a member of Oceana Church of Christ. He was a devout family man and loved spending time with his family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Ralph, Roger, BJ, Charles and Bobby and one sister, Ann. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Jerline McKee; his children, Kenny and Ruby McKee of Jesse, Susie and Craig Blankenship of Wirtz, VA and Debbie and Mark Williams of Cross Lanes; eight grandchildren, Jimmy Blankenship and wife, Casey, Timmy Blankenship and wife, Krissy, Matthew Williams, Sarah Williams and Jordan, Allie, Taylor and Gabe McKee; and four great-grandchildren, Jake and Eli Blankenship and Liam and Emily Blankenship.
